Nip in the Bud: Early Support for Children's Mental Health

I'm proud to collaborate with Nip in the Bud, a brilliant organisation working to improve early understanding and support for children’s mental health.

Nip in the Bud produces short, accessible films in partnership with mental health professionals (including me!) to help parents, teachers, and caregivers recognise early signs of mental health conditions and neurodivergent experiences in children aged 3 to 11.

These films are designed to raise awareness, reduce stigma, and promote early intervention, helping young children get the support they need before difficulties become more serious.

Topics covered include:

  • Anxiety, depression and eating disorders

  • ADHD, OCD and autism

  • PTSD, ODD and conduct disorders

  • Self-harm risk and emotional regulation

Each video offers a concise, compassionate look at common behaviours and symptoms, alongside practical advice on what to do next and where to seek help.

You'll also find factsheets, further reading and signposts to organisations that can offer additional support on the Nip in the Bud website.

If you care for or work with young children, these are essential, easy-to-understand resources that can make a real difference.

Please take a moment to explore, share, and bookmark the films – and help spread the word about the power of early support.
